Current Facility Closures

City of Surrey Recreation Centres, Ice Arenas, Culture Facilities, Surrey Nature Centre, Community Rooms, Pools and Libraries remain closed until further notice. Refunds or credits will be provided to anyone who has registered for activities affected by the closure and library due dates will be suspended during this period.

The Surrey Animal Resource Centre remains open, but is by appointment only.

See the criteria we use for closing our facilities.

Event Cancellations

Please be advised that all events organized by City of Surrey that do not comply with public health orders have been postponed or cancelled until further notice to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

See below for the full list of facilities that are closed.

Parks

Effective June 1, all city playgrounds and skateparks are now open. Sports courts for team sports such as basketball and lacrosse/ball hockey remain closed. City of Surrey parks, beaches, and dog-off-leash parks, with the exception of 1001 Steps and Christopherson Steps, remain open, but all users must be following proper social distancing measures by keeping 2 metres of physical distance from each other to minimize the risk of coronavirus (COVID-19) transmission.

All playing fields in the City are closed for organized sports. Provincial sport organizations, i.e. BC Soccer, BC Football, BC Baseball, BC Softball, and BC Cricket, have suspended all play.

Casual use of sports fields and open green space in our parks can take place within the parameters of physical distancing.

Our Compliance and Enforcement Team will be monitoring popular areas.

City-run Day Camps

All city-run day camps are closed as of Monday, March 23. Also, starting Monday, the two daycares located at civic facilities will be shut down to the public in order to prioritize space for health workers, first responders and essential service workers. The City of Surrey will continue to work with Fraser Health to closely monitor for any changes in guidelines for these daycares.

Mayor Doug McCallum has directed the closure of these facilities to minimize the risk of transmission of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
